The Gambia Ranked 110th On Corruption Index

Transparency International has ranked the Gambia as the 110th Least Corrupt country out of the 180 countries surveyed in the world for their 2022 report.

The report also indicates that The 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) shows that most countries are failing to stop corruption.

“The CPI ranks 180 countries and territories around the world by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, scoring on a scale of 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).

“The global average remains unchanged for over a decade at just 43 out of 100. More than two-thirds of countries score below 50, while 26 countries have fallen to their lowest scores yet. Despite concerted efforts and hard-won gains by some, 155 countries have made no significant progress against corruption or have declined since 2012,” the report indicates.

According to the report, The Gambia is better than only 70 countries. The Gambia scored 34 points out of 100 on the 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index.

The West African country was ranked 102nd in 2021,  performing better than Senegal but the French-speaking country is now nine points ahead in the latest report. Corruption continues to be cancer to the progress of The Gambia.
