Modou Manka, a young Gambian who recently expressed interest in contesting for the Chairmanship of the Brikama Area Council in the upcoming Local Government elections, said he is the best choice for the West Coast Region.
“I am the winning candidate because I am facing the people’s pain, and I am there to solve that. Whoever feels it knows it. My people, what they’re feeling when they see me, they know I am the guy. I have already done my groundwork, and a lot of people will be disappointed. A lot of these candidates will be disappointed because now we are no longer going to vote based on a political line. Some people believe they own that place, nobody owns it, it belongs to the people of the West Coast. It is about what you will give them.
“It is not about saying I belong to a particular Political Party. That’s why I say they are not even fit to run that job. I have so much respect for them, they are brothers, but they cannot do that job. These political parties cannot solve these problems, we need someone like me to solve the problems,” he said on Kerr Fatou’s weekly show ‘Politic Kaacha’ on Tuesday.
Mr. Manka said he is motivated to run for office because he is a victim of several ‘missed’ opportunities that should have happened in his life and that of the people residing in the West Coast Region.
