This one appears to have been painted as a present

then mounted in a grid to a backing sheet quite long ago I believe (my guess is their presentation here is how they were originally mounted in an album

I'm never quire sure with a carved boot of this near full sized scale whether it was a folk creation or a cobbler's display piece

I found a number of Neiswangers in Lancaster Country, PA , including two Henrys, one born in 1796 and one in 1857, both of whom ultimately wound up in Ohio.
