New England Antique Splint Basket with Carved Wood Handle dark stained wooden box This beautiful and unusual artPhotos do not do justice to the gorgeous warm sheen on this antique splint basket; this is just a super lovely thing. Late 19th century, I believe, it features a carved wooden handle, notched below the lip on each side and then woven into the basket as it tapers down the sides. This basket is pretty sturdy and could still be put to use gathering this or that, though I'd probably be inclined just to display it somewhere to be admired. I purchased it at
