I really love how the history of this one 19th c. and made of pine I believe unfolds across its surface as a series of repairs and reinforcements, testifying to its having been a much used and valued possession. There are a range of different nails, some of them showing carved plugs; a mend to the front of one leg (quite an old repair), and two
