William Ballantine, Serjeant-at-Law mb-code AAED004159 he declared himself EmperorWilliam Ballantine, Serjeant at Law, 1882. Ballantine (1812 1887) became a Serjeant at Law in 1856. He enjoyed a reputation as a formidable cross examiner of witnesses in court and was involved in some of the most celebrated cases of the day, commanding very high fees.
