There had been much infighting in Parliament on the relative merits of the two India Bills introduced by first Palmerston (the bird on the right) and then Disraeli (the bird on the left)

Lord Clarence Paget published his Navy Estimates which showed the funds required being some £12m

The SMS 'Blcher' was sunk by the Royal Navy during the Battle of Dogger Bank. She sustained over 70 hits from British shells before rolling over and sinking, continuing to return fire until the end. Only 237 of her crew of 792 were rescued.
